Katie Horner joins us from a very diverse background of teaching. After completing her undergraduate degree at Brock University, she moved to Queensland Australia to attain her teaching degree in both the primary and junior sectors. From there, Katie moved to Brighton, England where she taught grade 3 for two years before moving back home to Canada!
Katie quickly grew a passion for working with individuals with special exceptionalities. Finding ways to ensure student success and their love for learning became her main priority. By introducing new assessment techniques, a positive learning environment, and gearing lessons towards the interest of the students allowed her to motivate and get students excited for school each and every day!
Leading a healthy and well rounded lifestyle is very important to Katie and her family as they begin the transition and settlement at home in Collingwood. She is a very family oriented individual with a lovely new baby boy that just arrived in March, 2019.
Katie holds an honours degree in Fine and Performing Arts from Brock University with a specialization declared in Drama in Education and Applied Theatre. She also holds a Bachelor of Education in both the Primary and Junior division. She is a member of the Ontario College of Teachers.
Katie is very much looking forward to instilling her love of learning to each and every student and using her unique background of education to further enhance each child’s confidence, passion and motivation to become successful learners!
